Uber driver in custody over ‘bizarre’ attack in UK
The driver of an Uber car in London was arrested by police over the alleged assault of a passenger.
The driver was released on bail but was expected to appear in court on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
Uber has suspended the driver.
Police have not named the driver or provided any further details.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A number of other drivers have been suspended or were being investigated for alleged assaults by passengers.
Uber drivers in London have been targeted by passengers for weeks, with many accused of attacking women and threatening them with violence.
Last month, Uber was accused of using a woman as a “human shield” and using her for sexual favours.
Uber suspended the drivers after the incident.
